Currently our projects are based in Makhanda (Grahamstown) in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, Kenton-on-Sea, about 40 miles south of Makhanda and Cape Town. We have also sponsored one project in Johannesburg. Unemployment is particularly high in the Eastern Cape, though it has to be said that skills training is valued everywhere.
We work with partners in South Africa, where appropriate we provide a grant to run a project, or else we pay for an apprenticeship or provide a trainer. We are a small charity and can be flexible. Although we rely on partners, we make sure we know exactly how our money is spent.
We are also keen to follow up with our ‘alumni’ where we can. By September 2025 we had had 119 people in training of whom 88 had finished training and been able to find jobs, continue their education or have their job security enhanced.
