As a small charity with limited funds we have to be as cost effective as we can in running programmes. If we pay a stipend to a willing learner it enables them to cover living costs and attend work every day free from worry and able to concentrate on their training. The advantage to an employer, who provides on-the-job training, is the opportunity to train a prospective, skilled employee free of charge. We would love to find more partners to work with in this way. If you are running business in southern Africa, or know of someone who might be interested in participating in this type of partnership, please get in touch.
Following our first carpentry programme, we placed two young men with African Musical Instruments. At the end of the agreed period one of them was offered a full-time job.
